Welcome to High Confidence. Week one is over with, and now it's time to settle up and see how well last week's strain Paradise actually did. So let's get to the question everybody cares the most about, did we get paid?
0:13
Last week we went three and three. I'm anxious to see what games we won and which ones we lost. We risked $30 across six bets and got back $33.46.
0:23
That means we made a profit of $3.46, which isn't an entire $5 unit, but it is.69 of a unit. So yes, we got paid. Not a lot, but FanDuel owing us money is better than us owing FanDuel money, so I'll take what I can get.
0:41
So let's get to the board. Remember, these picks were all made by Paradise Sativa. First game on the board was Colorado versus Georgia Tech. I bet $5 on the underdog Colorado will win outright.
0:54
Here is my theory for Thursday. I didn't have a theory really, I just wasn't betting against Deion to lose a season opener. Final score, Colorado 14, Georgia Tech 13.
1:05
Colorado was trailing 13-7 late in the fourth quarter before scoring a touchdown with less than a minute left to take a 14-13 lead.
1:13
Georgia Tech immediately drove back down the field and got in the field goal range and attempted a 45-yard kick to win the game, but Colorado blocked it as time expired and escaped with a one-point win.
1:24
Did my theory hold up? Yes, it did. Colorado won straight up. A $5 bet made me a $9.90 profit, which is 1.98 unit. Second game on the board was Miami at Stanford.
1:38
I bet $5 on the over, so I needed at least a total score of 48 points to win. My Thursday theory was that E-40 was performing at halftime for the 20th anniversary of My Gotta Report Card.
1:50
He's gonna have everybody so turned up that this is gonna be a 50-plus point game. Final score, Miami 45, Stanford 6. Miami handled almost all the scoring by themselves.
2:02
They were up 28-6 at the half and added another 17 points in the second half. The two teams finished with 51 points total. Did my theory hold up? Yes, it did. I said this would be a 50-plus point game. They scored 51.
2:15
The five bet made me 4.46 profit. Third game on the board, Coastal Carolina at West Virginia. I bet $5 that West Virginia would win it by at least 22 points.
2:25
My Thursday theory was West Virginia was retiring Pat White's number and asking everybody in the stadium to wear white. Once I found out Pat White was a brother, I was completely sold on the Pat White all white party.
2:37
I thought Coastal Carolina was probably going to make this game closer than people expected, but I mistakenly placed the wrong damn bet. Final score, West Virginia 31, Coastal Carolina 24.
2:48
West Virginia winning at halftime 24-0. Then Coastal Carolina outscored them 24-7 in the second half and turned a blowout into a seven-point game. Did my theory hold up? Yes.
2:59
I said Coastal Carolina would make the game closer. Unfortunately, I bet West Virginia to win by at least 22 points. A $5 bet lost me $5, which is the equivalent to one unit.
3:10
So far, I wanted to let you know, out of the first three picks, my theory was right all three times.
3:16
I just, this is the first bet where I did not bet correctly because, again, I was high as shit off the Paradise, and I did not make the right wager when I got to FanDuel. Shame on me.
3:27
Number four game on the board, Louisville versus Ole Miss. I bet $5 that Ole Miss will win by at least seven points. My theory on Thursday was I was originally gonna bet for Louisville.
3:37
Then I heard the Hotty Toddy chant and completely changed my mind. Final score, Ole Miss 41, Louisville 38.
3:44
Ole Miss was up 38-24 with less than seven minutes left, so for a minute the theory was looking pretty damn good. Then Louisville scored two touchdowns and tied the game 38-38 with a minute and 28 left.
3:55
Ole Miss kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired to win by three. Did my theory hold up? Yes. Hotty Toddy got me the right winner, but it did not get me the seven points I needed to win the bet.
4:07
That $5 bet lost me $5, which is one unit. Number five game on the board, Wisconsin versus Notre Dame. I bet $5 on the under, so I needed 46 points total or fewer to win the bet.
4:21
My Thursday theory was I found out that Wisconsin used to have a real badger mascot, but it kept escaping. So I told myself if they can't even keep their damn mascot under wraps, they probably can't play defense at all.
4:34
I thought Notre Dame was going to score a shit ton of points, and I also thought Wisconsin couldn't score enough for the game to go over. Final score, Notre Dame 41, Wisconsin 13.
4:43
The game was actually close at halftime with Notre Dame only leading 13-10. Then Notre Dame outscored Wisconsin 28-3 in the second half and finished with 41 points by themselves. The two teams combined for 54 points.
4:55
Did my theory hold up? Yes. Wisconsin let Notre Dame score 41 points on they ass, which means they can't play defense for shit.
5:02
The problem is I predicted Notre Dame would score a shit ton of points and then bet the under. That $5 bet lost me $5, which is one unit. The final game on the board, SMU at Florida.
5:15
I bet $5 that SMU would win by at least three points. Here's my theory for Thursday. There's an SMU legend that their mascot once kicked another mascot and killed it.
5:24
So I told myself if they got a mascot that's kicking shit and killing shit, then this game's gonna be decided by a field goal. Final score, SMU 27, Florida State 24.
5:35
Florida State tied the game with 24-24 in the fourth quarter, then SMU drove down the field and kicked the field goal with 25 seconds left to win the game by exactly three points. Did my theory hold up? Yes.
5:45
I said SMU would win by a field goal. SMU won by a field goal. That $5 bet made me $4.10 profit, which is.82 unit. So as a quick recap, I went six for six for theories.
6:02
I didn't get the right point spread in some of them, and in one of them I just placed the wrong fucking bet. But theory-wise, Paradise went six for six, but we're not counting that. We're counting bets made.
6:14
I just want to shoot that out there. Paradise went six for six when it came with theories. If I was better at betting and understand betting, I probably would have went six for six with my actual bets.
6:25
So Paradise went 500 this week at three and three, and they did that for the category Sativa. Again, the profit this week was $3.46, which is.69 unit.
6:39
Paradise officially finishes High Confidence week's profitable even though it went exactly 500. Since it's only week one, we don't need to talk about the category standings or the string leaderboard until next week.
6:49
This Thursday we're switching to Hybrid, and the Hybrid that we got this Thursday is Toad Venom. It's a cross between Animal Face and Sin Mints. Um, I'm very excited about this. I've, I've smoked a lot of different Toad.
7:03
I'm really excited about this one that my plug got me, and we're gonna try to go six for six again next week. But that's it. That's the show today. That's it for High Confidence, Payday Tuesday Week Two.
