Good Morning/Nite Dazees,

Welcome back to Green Wednesdaze, the weekly survival guide for the hungry, bored, stoned, and paranoid.

I just finished reading Ari Emanuel's memoir, Roll the Calls. Early in the book he describes trying to get into the CAA mailroom at 26. They told him he was too old. He called four or five times a day and started leaving recorded messages at night. His logic: the man would have to call him back or call the police. When he finally got someone on the phone they told him NO. Ari upped the calls to 11 times a day. He didn’t stop until he got the job.

I had to sit with that. Because I have never done that for anything I said I wanted.

Most people say they stopped trying because they got a no. Sometimes that's true. But a lot of times the real reason is that calling again felt humiliating. Another rejection might force a harder look at whether you're actually as good as you keep telling yourself.

How hard are you actually trying? Have you exhausted your options, or just tried enough to avoid embarrassment? Is the obstacle you’re facing really time and opportunity, or is it pride wearing a disguise?

It’s really only one way to find out. You know what you need to do.

Lucky number this week: 7

Pride is the deadliest of the seven sins. They say it comes before the fall.

Proceed with caution to the most important 691 words of your week.
